Dr. Smith has served the district as Director of Special Services, Director of Federal Programs, District Test Coordinator, District Technology Coordinator, Professional Development Coordinator, Curriculum Director, assistant principal at LHS, principal of LMS, and principal K-8.
She was the show choir teacher for many years before being assigned to administrative positions beginning in 2001. Dr. Smith received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from The University of Southern Mississippi. She is married to Mason Smith, Lumberton High School teacher of U.S. History and Government, and they have three children: Marika, Mason, and Michael.

The Lumberton School Board consists of five people who represent the five areas of the district: District 1 – Carolyn Lee, District 2 – Willie Earl Winston, District 3 – Jason McCardle, District 4 – Albert Young, and District 5 – Patrice Neel. The board regularly meets the 2nd Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the District Office. The public is invited to attend.
